The Hudson Observer publishes longform journalism, creative writing, photography, and illustration. 

Rather than chasing the daily news cycle, The Hudson Observer focuses on deeply human stories. In its journalism, articles are reported by living alongside them, with absorbing storytelling penned from up close. In its creative work, The Hudson Observer positions itself as an outlet for the breadth of writing, photography, and illustration talent in Hudson, and the greater Hudson Valley. The magazine is a place for writers and artists to be experimental, test new ideas, and see their work published. 

When combined, The Hudson Observer becomes an artistic endeavor as much as a journalistic record; an art object as well as a chronicle; something to keep, lend, annotate, and return to.

The Hudson Observer was founded, and is based, in Hudson, New York. It draws on the history, architecture, aesthetics, lives, and communities of the city for inspiration. Though The Hudson Observer’s feet are planted firmly in town, its head is in the clouds, as it seeks to publish creative writing that can be appreciated by anyone, from anywhere. 

The Hudson Observer is both online and in print, with an edition 10 times a year (skipping August and January). You can find print copies of The Hudson Observer at bookstores, bars, cafes, hotels, gas stations, and corner stores around town.
